On August 7 at 8 PM, the 12th World Games kicked off magnificently in Chengdu, Sichuan, under the theme “Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders”. This marks the first time mainland China has hosted the world's highest-level international multi-sport event for non-Olympic disciplines. It also set a record for the largest Chinese delegation in history, covering the widest range of events, making it a milestone of global significance.
This event featured 34 sports, 60 disciplines and 256 medal events. It included traditional projects with rich historical and cultural significance such as wushu, as well as emerging projects full of youthful vitality such as parkour and flying disc. Taishan Sports will provide over 10,000 pieces of competition equipment for 25 events including wushu, aerobics, karate, jujitsu, sambo, and duathlon, and will spare no effort to provide the highest quality products and services for the successful hosting of the event.
Organized by the International World Games Association (IWGA), the World Games focus on non-Olympic sports and are held every four years, typically the year after the Olympics. The World Games is the international showcase that positions the world's best athletes, the host city and the partners and sponsors at the heart of world sport. The establishment of the World Games has promoted the prosperity and development of world sports culture.
